Guramrit LeBron: Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula
Newer Doula, Offers Sliding Scale Options for those in Need
The Bronx, New York. Born and raised.
My education and training...
Birth has been an important part of my life since the birth of my younger brother who was born at home when I was 3. Even at this young age, I recognized the importance of having a strong support system rallying around the mother during labor, delivery and nourishing the new family during the postpartum period.
I did not imagine I would end up here in birth and postpartum work but I am truly in alignment. I started with my B.S. in Magazine Journalism working at various publications (including Parenting Magazine), start-ups and eventually finding my way to nutrition school to study holistic nutrition and wellness. This gave birth to my first book, a cookbook, Yogi Eats. I spent 4 years working for farmers markets in the city while pursuing my work as a doula and doing ongoing training. Local, sustainable, whole foods is an integral part of my practice with clients.
I believe that nourishment can be delicious and enjoyable and is pivotal to overall well-being especially for new families. I help facilitate a nourished postpartum through meals, broths, snacks and herbal teas that are specially formulated and designed to promote healing by replenishing and nourishing the new parent with nutrient-rich foods.
I love being a doula because…
I get to witness a woman step into her power and bring her baby earth side. A little support really does go a long way. I love being the go to person during this sacred time.
My work style...
Nourishing the mother with loving support from pregnancy through postpartum is something I greatly cherish. I bring traditional practices from my Indian heritage and holistic practices into this work including Comforting Touch, breath work, acupressure, stretches, guided meditation, plant medicine, aromatherapy and holistic nutrition. I am hands on when I need to be but really focus on discerning where I am needed with a firm, grounded and calm presence.
Birth and postpartum! I did not realize how much I loved being part of this sacred and transformative time in a family’s life. Nourishing and holding space for the new family is a large part of my role. I believe that all women deserve to have the birthing experience they desire in an environment where they feel safe and supported because birth is sacred and transformative. Nurturing, educating and uplifting a new mother during such a transformational event is essential to my work as a doula.
I am also extremely passionate about cooking for the new family and helping keep the home with this new little person as serene as possible. I’ve had mamas tell me it feels like a spa after I leave, and I love hearing that! I love giving the family an opportunity to breathe easy knowing I am here to support them especially with something super yummy (and nutritious).
When I am not doula-ing I am…
Probably napping. I love a good nap, hanging by the beach, riding my bike with my husband, and of course cooking for loved ones.
