ABOUT MASHA
Masha Banks: Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula, and Childbirth Educator mail@ivyset.com www.dockhouse.art (646) 943-2090 I'm from... Greenwich, CT by way of Moscow, Russia. My education and training...
My backstory… I was born and raised in Russia. After traveling around the world, I got married and settled in the US in 2010, attending the School of Visual Arts in NY. My family and I relocated to Connecticut in 2016 and I now have three children. I had a chance to experience a hospital birth, home birth with a midwife and a solo birth. Every experience was such an empowerment, that I wanted to become a midwife later in life. Meanwhile, as motherhood unfolded, I decided to focus on becoming a doula to help those who look for ways to make their experience as comfortable as possible. I also learned from my midwife and my own recovery, that the period after birth is a very important time and is not cherished as much as it used to be in the past. I took a few courses on how to help during the postpartum period and now offer Malay practice of Belly binding and “Closing birth ceremony” as well as more traditional offerings (nutrition and exercising for new moms and help with their newborns). I love being a doula because... I believe in womanhood. I am grateful to each woman who helped me achieve my beautiful childbirths. I am also grateful to each woman who shares her childbirth journey with me. The mere thought of empowering a mother and her baby during the childbirth experience brings me joy. My work style... Gentle and caring by nature, I seek to do everything possible to enhance your birth experience and to make it satisfying. Using breathing techniques, visualization, comforting positions, and intuition, you can achieve a joyous and empowering birth experience. As a doula, I focus on your needs, providing you with specific information and emotional support. My ultimate goal is to help you eliminate fear so that you open yourself up to the wonderful journey of birth and motherhood. My passion... Apart from learning more about birth, I love to garden and paint. When I am not doula’ing around town, I am… Taking care of my children, gardening with them and learning how to do art with them. |
