ABOUT NICOLE
I'm from... All over the world. Born in Mexico (Hola!), then moved to Milan (Ciao!), Frankfurt (Hallo!), and finally Paris (Bonjour!). I made it state side when I was 13. My education...
My backstory... A lifelong love of fitness eventually led me to yoga in 2010. I was initially drawn to Vinyasa classes as my focus was on developing strength and perfecting the poses. Faced with injury and a cancer journey, the focus of my yoga practice shifted. It moved inwards as I began to seek and recognize the benefits of meditation and a more gentle practice. After ten years of practicing yoga, I have found the balance between effort and ease; I have found my sweet spot. I love yoga because... It is multi-faceted and I never tire of it. It is an empowering practice that cultivates awareness of body, breath and clarity of mind. No matter what comes up on mat, how I move through my practice shapes and influences the way I move through my day. It sparks joy, fosters my compassion for others and has taught me to pause and be more present. My yoga classes... Cultivate awareness of body, mind and breath in a safe and supportive environment. With a calm presence and compassionate approach, I encourage students to find beauty and grace within themselves. I encourage them to discover that they are enough; that they are perfect and complete just as they are. My passion... Is the human body. I am fascinated by how bodies move through space. I am intrigued by the physical and mental obstacles that get in the way of movement. You can learn so much about someone by paying attention to how they move and express themselves. My hope is that my students learn to understand and love their bodies and that they find freedom in movement. When I am not teaching... I am interviewing 3-10 year olds for admissions into a private school based in the Bronx. My love of children (I have three of my own) brought me to teaching. Over the years, I have met with hundreds of parents and children giving them guidance and support during this critical time. My favorite pastimes are traveling, hiking with my family and cooking dishes from around the world. |
