ABOUT SILVIE
Silvie Falschlunger: Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Health Coach (IIN) www.birth-in-motion.com scfalschlunger@optonline.net Cell: (914) 522-6980 I'm from... The Austrian Alps and transitioned to Westchester in 2001 where I live with my husband and daughter. My education and training...
As a long time doula these trainings are my cornerstones, but the biggest teaching happens in the birthing room itself. I have the privilege to witness most courageous mothers, work aside unique birth professionals, and be in lively exchange with the birth community. Next to that I also have a background in Tibetan Philosophy and Psychology, Developmental Somatic Psychotherapy and hold a Ph.D. in Art History. Number of births attended... 350 plus births attended in more than 20 hospitals, birthing centers, and at home. On several occasions I even had a surprise catch. I have VBAC, breech, and twin experience. My backstory... At advanced maternal age and against all the odds I had a life transforming beautiful birth with my daughter. While I always was interested on the impact of conception and birth on our emerging life the birth experience with my daughter brought me the unexpected insight of the strong mother-baby-connection – I’m still in awe. I love being a doula because... I feel I step into the old tradition of woman supporting woman. I see how small changes can make a big difference in the experience and birth outcome. A good birth is priceless and goes a long way; it sets a foundation of trust, confidence and connection to build on and fall back to when the going gets rough. My support style... While I’m all for education – knowledge is power – I see birth more as an art than a science. I focus on experiential preparing, deep relaxation, and finding your intuition. In the labor room, with a whole mix of excitement high, overwhelm surprise, and primal intensity, I’m there to guide, encourage, and orient to ease into the rhythm of labor. My intention is to be there as a quiet presence, as much hands-on as needed with awareness, the right input and trust in the process. My passion... Is to support woman to find their authentic self, way beyond traditional success stories and the birth itself. I’m in awe about the mother-baby connections and curious about the impact of the mother-line. I keep exploring birth in different cultures and how it translates in specific action steps. When I am not supporting births... You can find me jogging in the woods, in the yoga studio or in the kitchen with my family. I love watching movies and my New Year’s resolution is to dance more. |
