Mike’s Education and Training
My love and study of traditional healing arts combined with an educational background in biology has offered me a unique approach in working with clients. Since becoming a massage therapist in 2002, I have focused my practice on pregnancy and the childbearing year. Through my journey I have cultivated a deep respect for the innate wisdom and healing ability of the body, mind and spirit.
In 2010, I founded Tree of Life Healing Arts, a holistic wellness practice dedicated to supporting families navigating fertility, pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. It is a great joy to now share the practice with my husband Mike, also a licensed massage therapist and yoga instructor. Together we support clients of all ages with massage and holistic wellness in our local Westchester community.
My own journey of pregnancy began with my son, Gabriel, who was born in 2008. I quickly learned first hand that pregnancy can be quite difficult and scary. I decided to learn as much as I could. I researched traditional birth practices, I found an amazing weekly prenatal yoga class and attended childbirth education. These experiences grounded me and allowed me to feel at ease and confident. I had an empowered birth where I was supported by my yoga practice, a birth doula, and a midwife.
Having traveled the sacred journey of birth, I wanted to help new parents and families on this same journey. As my passion for empowering clients unfolded, I became an Infant Massage Educator, Yoga Teacher, a Childbirth Educator, Birth & Postpartum Doula, Arvigo® Practitioner and a Certified Lactation Counselor.
Little did I know, years after being a single parent, I would meet Mike, my partner and also a licensed massage therapist. Love has a way of weaving through our lives. Mike and I got married and our family grew. In 2020 I gave birth to our sweet daughter, Maya. I had a beautiful birth in the comfort of our home. Traveling the journey of pregnancy and birth the second time had its own challenges. Preparing for a home birth, I had to reach deep within for all the wisdom of my past and attain a new mindset which allowed my second birth to unfold.
Now as a mother of two, my intimate knowledge and personal experience has fueled my passion for supporting new families with a deep reverence for the sacred journey of parenthood. I love combining my professional and personal experiences to inform my approach in working with clients and offering authentic, evidenced-based and compassionate care.
I transitioned from a 15 year career in finance to a career in health and wellness in 2016. As a new father, I know the joys and struggles new parents face and I am dedicated to supporting clients in finding balance and wellness through therapeutic massage. I completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2018 and I incorporate stretching and mindfulness in my sessions as needed. As a licensed massage therapist, I offer a therapeutic approach incorporating pinpointed and structural work with relaxation to create a deep sense of balance. I specialize in therapeutic deep tissue massage, prenatal massage, postpartum massage and medical massage. My calm and caring presence combined with first hand knowledge of parenthood supports my practice and my work with clients.
Tree of Life Healing Arts is dedicated to providing informed and compassionate care during each session. We look forward to supporting you in your journey through fertility, pregnancy, postpartum and beyond.
