ABOUT SARAH
Sarah Ludwig: Childbirth Educator, Labor and Postpartum Doula www.baby-to-go.com [email protected] I’m from… I’ve lived most of my life in Rockland County, currently in Nyack. I went to college in Pittsburgh and spent a lot of time traveling before I grew up into an adult with responsibilities. I have been to 6 continents and swam in 3 oceans! My Education…
My backstory… Once upon a time, I was a classroom teacher - and I loved it. I was that teacher who went to my students’ ballet recitals and soccer games. The school I taught in was a warm and welcoming community - which announced it was closing literally while I was in labor with my daughter. At that point, with two small children of my own, I didn’t feel like I had the energy to commit to joining a new school environment - and I was skeptical about finding one that I loved as much as where I had been. It was time for a change! I had already begun offering some support to other new moms (I am so old that this was before Facebook local groups and the newborn time felt very isolating) and Baby To Go was born! I love being a doula because… It is an incredible privilege to bear witness and guide families through this transition period. I want new parents to feel calm and confident through the various twists and turns of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum and it is an honor to support them! My work style… I believe that just because having a baby is a major milestone does not mean that it has to be somber and serious. I hope that I bring some levity and humor with my support. I am not the doula who waves crystals over your chakras and whispers incantations from the birth goddess in your ear - no shade at all, I know her and love her and if that’s what you want I can help you connect. Me? I encourage you to let a few F bombs fly if that’s your vibe (cursing has been proven to alleviate pain) and keep it real with postpartum expectations and goals (you can have a Pinterest-perfect nursery worthy of a magazine spread, but you don’t need half of the items in there and your baby is not going to sleep in that crib quite as easily and angelically as you might hope). My passion... I feel very strongly that families deserve up to date and accurate information and can make their own decisions from there. I am passionate about outreach surrounding preventable childhood injury, especially child passenger safety and safe sleep. When I am not doula”ing”… Napping? Or probably parenting my own 2 kids and WISHING I was napping. I also really love the beach and musical theater, and spending time with family and friends. I used to be an avid reader, and hope to find some time to get back to that. |
